Dimensional inspection is performed with measuring instruments such as microscopes, 3D measuring systems, micrometers, and calipers, which are traceable to NIST to ensure that the dimensions of specimens produced in the machine shop are as specified by customer requirements. Also, specimens supplied by customers are dimensionally inspected.
